Friendly village pub with great cuisine and a great team!
Owners Roger and Rachel Paull are a local Dorset family and have been in the pub trade for over 17 years.
They have been running The White Hart themselves since December, 2019, just before the first Lockdown.
In April 2021, they were joined by managers Sarah and Ade Nubeebuckus Jones, both highly experienced in the hospitality industry.
Sarah began her culinary career as a teenager, working as head waitress at the renowned Weymouth Restaurant Mallams.
Since leaving Weymouth, Sarah and Ade have run pubs throughout the south of England.
Sarah’s Mauritian heritage with Indian influences has seen her better known for her curries and knowledge of spices, yet still taking influence from her traditional upbringing of homemade English food, intertwined with restaurant standard cuisine.
2021 Travellers’ Choice Award
In July 2021, The White Hart team learnt that the pub has been recognised as a 2021 Travellers’ Choice award winner for restaurants.
This achievement celebrates businesses that consistently deliver fantastic experiences to diners around the globe, having earned great traveller reviews on Tripadvisor over the last 12 months.
“We were delighted to receive an email from Tripadvisor saying, ‘You’re in the top 10% of restaurants worldwide… In this particularly challenging year, you stood out by providing great service and experiences to your guests’.
“It certainly has been a challenging year – for all pubs and the hospitality industry in general and of course very many other businesses. So this award has given us a welcome boost and is hugely encouraging.
“We have been working hard to provide a friendly, welcoming and safe environment as well as high quality food and great local ales and ciders.
“This year our team has been joined by managers Sarah and Ade, both highly experienced in the hospitality industry. Sarah grew up in Dorset but has a Mauritian heritage with Indian influences, which means that we offer a unique combination of authentic curries and homemade English pub food!
“We consider ourselves a traditional village pub, rather than a restaurant, and anyone popping by for a few pints will get the same warm welcome as diners.
“As a village pub, this award means so much to us – to be rated along with high class restaurants. Thank you to our wonderful customers for these reviews! And of course to our dedicated and loyal staff – we have a great little team.”

“Congratulations to all the winners of the 2021 Travellers’ Choice Awards,” said Kanika Soni, Chief Commercial Officer at Tripadvisor. “The Travellers’ Choice Awards highlight the places that are consistently excellent… Based on a full year of reviews from customers, this award speaks to the great service and experience you provided guests in the midst of a pandemic.”
South West Hospitality Small Business of the Year 2021 – Southern Enterprise Awards
The team at The White Hart is also delighted and honoured to receive a second award this year!
SME News Magazine has announced the winners of the 2021 Southern Enterprise Awards.
Now running successfully in its fifth consecutive year, the SME Southern Enterprise Awards programme is about proudly recognising and awarding small and medium enterprises and those professionals who have been determined to reach new heights in their industry despite the drawbacks caused by Covid-19.
‘SME News prides itself on the validity of its awards and winners. The awards are given solely on merit and are awarded to commend those most deserving for their ingenuity and hard work, distinguishing them from their competitors and proving them worthy of recognition.’
Local MP washing our dishes…
We learnt that our local MP, Chris Loder, worked here at The White Hart for his first job – earning £2.80 per hour washing the dishes.
So we invited him back!
