Drink in the atmosphere of rural Dorset
Since the 17th century, The White Hart pub has provided a focus for the community of Bishops Caundle – a small thriving village in north Dorset.
Our traditional village pub offers a warm welcome to locals and visitors to the region.
Roger & Rachel welcome you to The White Hart at Bishops Caundle
COVID-19 Update – December 2020
We will be reopening Thursday 3rd December at 6pm.
Tier 2 guidelines:
Alcohol can only be purchased with a substantial meal and you can only be seated with your household members, or within your support bubble.
Rule of six applies only outside.
We look forward to seeing you all soon.
Please see the foot of our website for our revised opening hours, which we will be constantly reviewing.
And also visit our Facebook Page to stay updated.
Please stay safe while you are with us.
If you need anything please do not hesitate to ask.
- We advise that you to book ahead to save any disappointment.
- Children are welcome but we ask that parents please supervise to maintain a safe distance.
- We are required by law to take your contact details for the track & trace procedure. Rest assured we will be following the data protection legislation.
We have a new social area inside, so you have your own table at the required distance to keep you safe!
We also have a lovely large beer garden with expansive views over farm fields towards Bulbarrow Hill, an ancient hill fort in the Dorset Downs.
There is plenty of seating – and space for children to play too.
We will do our best to keep you safe and happy, whatever the weather.
Thankyou so much for your support.
Roger and Rachel Paull.
West Country Ales and Local Cider
Our range of drinks includes specially selected West Country ales.
For cider lovers, we offer Laycock Cider, hand crafted a few miles away in Purse Caundle.
A real old-time cider – the apples are hand picked and pressed in an old cider press.
Freshly-cooked Pub Food
Enjoy our traditional pub food, cooked to order – and freshly prepared with locally sourced produce whenever possible.
Full menu available, including Fish Fridays and Sunday roasts.
Please book in advance.
We are easy to find, being on the main A3030 through Bishops Caundle village, on the right hand side just past the church if travelling from the Sherborne direction.
There is plenty of parking space in our car park to the side of the pub.
You can also find us on Tripadvisor.
With over 17 years in the pub trade, we are a local Dorset family and pride ourselves on creating a traditional village pub atmosphere – and we look forward to welcoming you!
Roger and Rachel Paull.
